Ralph James as "Rudy" on Laverne and Shirley- "Take My Plants, Please"

Ralph James

by Dawbfan

Ralph James was born Ralph James Torrez on November 29, 1924 in Los Angeles, California.

James was best known for his role as the voice of Orson, the leader of the planet Ork, on “Mork and Mindy” from 1978-1982. At the end of each episode, Mork would make his weekly report to Orson and explain Earth’s customs to him. The character of Orson was never seen – only heard.

Ralph James made appearances on such shows as "Bonanza", "The Mod Squad", “Lost in Space”, "Here's Lucy", and "Kojak", but most of his career was spent doing voice work in films and TV shows such as “The Unmentionables” (1963), “Pancho's Hideaway” (1964), “The Looney, Looney, Looney Bugs Bunny Movie” (1981), and cartoons such as “The Jetsons” and “Scooby-Doo”. He also reprised his role as the voice of Orson in the animated series, "Mork & Mindy/Laverne & Shirley/Fonz Hour" in 1982.

Ralph James passed away on March 14, 1992 at the age of 67 in Beverly Hills, California.
